Speed-Swipe Interface

The speed-swipe interface is a convenient way to process credit card payments quickly at simple events. It utilizes a USB card reader for efficient payment processing. Please note that this feature is currently only available for organizations using authorize.net as their payment gateway.

To access the speed-swipe interface, go to the attendees-edit list for the specific event. At the bottom of the list, you will find a link to the interface. Click on the link, and you'll be directed to the first of two pages.

Page 1 - Payment

On the first page, you have two main options: card swipe or cash payment. The card swipe field is automatically selected when the page loads, allowing you to easily swipe the credit card using the card reader. The card swipe will be processed and authorized for the event package amount.

If the attendee wants to pay in cash, click on the "Record Cash Payment" screen. This option lets you proceed without authorizing a credit card and assumes that you have received the appropriate cash payment.

Page 1 also displays the last five registrations processed, making it easy to identify and correct any errors if needed.

Page 2 - Identification

After completing page 1, you'll move on to page 2, which focuses on identification. The last name of the cardholder is extracted from the card swipe and used to search the member database for any matches to members or prospects.

If a match is found, the results will be displayed on the right side of the page. You can select the appropriate person and click "Complete using info from Record Selected." This action will create an event registration based on the information in the member/prospect record. If a credit card was swiped on page 1, the authorization will be captured (the card will be charged) and recorded in the system. If cash payment was selected on page 1, a cash payment will be recorded.

If there are no matches, you can modify the search text in the upper-left search box to further refine the search and locate the attendee in the database.

If the attendee is not found in the member/prospect database at all, you have the option to register the attendee on the left side of the page. This will create a prospect record in the member database and then proceed with event registration and payment recording as described above for attendees who are already in the database.

Members vs. Non-Members

For events with different prices for members and non-members, the speed-swipe interface can accommodate this. If you have separate packages for members and non-members, the system will automatically apply the appropriate pricing. You will see the prices next to the names in the search results on the right. Any attendees entered as non-members on the left side will automatically receive the non-member price.
