Using the Volunteer Module

The volunteer module is a helpful tool for managing volunteers for your events and keeping track of their credit hours across multiple occasions.

To begin, you'll need to start a volunteer event using a calendar event you've created. You have two options: create a new volunteer session directly from a calendar event or go to the main volunteering admin page.

Volunteer sessions are structured hierarchically. The session serves as the overall framework, including the start and end dates and the volunteer coordinator. Within the session, you can create multiple volunteer opportunities. Each opportunity can have its own set of time slots. Let's illustrate with an example:

Let's say Company A is organizing a Chili Cookoff and needs volunteers for various tasks. They require volunteers for ticket desks, food preparation, security, and more.

First, they create a volunteer session named "Chili Cookoff Volunteers." Then, they add volunteering opportunities such as "Ticket Desk," "Food Prep," and "Security," along with any other roles that need to be filled.

Within each opportunity, they create time slots for volunteers to sign up. For example, if the event spans a long duration, there may be multiple shifts to cover. In the case of the ticket desk opportunity, they create two time slots representing the two shifts. Volunteers can choose to sign up for either or both shifts.

By utilizing the volunteer module, you can efficiently manage your volunteer efforts and ensure a smooth experience for both organizers and volunteers. If you need any further assistance or have questions about using the volunteer module, our support team is here to help!
