Managing Volunteer Time Slots

Volunteer time slots are specific periods within volunteer opportunities where volunteers can sign up to participate. These time slots are created to allocate volunteers to different shifts or durations based on the needs of the opportunity.

To set up volunteer time slots, follow these steps:

1. Identify the volunteer opportunity for which you want to create time slots. For example, if the opportunity is "Ticket Desk," you will create time slots specifically for this role.

2. Within the volunteer opportunity, you can create multiple time slots to cover different shifts or durations. Each time slot will have its own set of information.

3. Fill in the following details for each time slot:

   - Start Date: Specify the date when the time slot begins. By default, it will match the start date of the overall volunteer session, but you can adjust it if needed.

   - End Date: If the time slot spans multiple days, provide the end date here. For single-day events, you can leave this field blank.

   - Start Time: Enter the exact start time for the time slot. This is crucial information for volunteers to know when they should be present.

   - End Time: If the time slot has a specific end time, provide it here. If the duration is flexible or unknown, you can leave this field blank.

   - Available Openings: Determine the number of volunteer spots available for this time slot. For instance, if you need five volunteers, enter "5" in this field. Once the maximum number of volunteers is reached, the time slot will automatically close for registration. If there is no limit to the number of openings, you can leave this field at zero.

   - Credit Hours Awarded: If you track volunteer credit hours, specify the default number of hours awarded for this time slot. Volunteers will initially receive this default value, but both volunteers and admins can manually adjust the earned hours if necessary.

4. Save the time slot information and repeat the process to create additional time slots as needed.

By creating well-defined time slots, volunteers can easily sign up for the shifts or durations that suit their availability and preferences.
