Use Gmail for your 1and1 Email - Easy Tutorial
If you're using 1and1 for your emails but prefer the convenience of Gmail, we have great news for you! You can easily set up your 1and1 email on your Gmail account, allowing you to read and reply to your emails using Gmail. Follow the quick and simple steps below to get started:
1. Log into your Gmail account by visiting www.gmail.com.
2. In the top right corner, click on the gear icon.
3. Select "Settings" from the dropdown menu.
4. Click on the "Accounts and Import" tab.
5. Scroll down to the section labeled "Check mail from other accounts (using POP3)" and click on "Add a POP3 mail account you own."
6. A popup window will appear. Enter your email address (e.g., youremail@yourdomain.com) and click "Next Step."
7. Provide your email address again in the "Username" field. Enter the password you use for your 1and1 email account. For the POP Server, use "pop.1and1.com" and set the Port to "995." Check the box for "Always use SSL" and choose whether you want to label incoming messages. (Note: If you want to keep a copy of your emails on the 1and1 server, check the box for "Leave a copy of retrieved message on the server.") Finally, click "Add Account."
8. Check the box that says, "Yes, I want to be able to send email as..." and click "Next Step."
9. Enter the name you wish to display when sending emails (leave the "Treat as an alias" box checked) and click "Next Step."
10. For the SMTP settings, set the SMTP server as "smtp.1and1.com" with Port "587" and enable TLS. Enter your username (youremail@yourdomain.com) and password, then click "Add Account."
11. The last step is verification. You will receive a confirmation code via email. Log in to your 1and1 email account using the 1and1.com webmail application, open the email from the "Gmail Team," and copy the confirmation code. Click on "Verify," and the popup window will disappear. You're all set!
12. Once you're done, go back to your inbox in Gmail. Scroll down to the folders on the left side, below "Compose," "Inbox," etc. You'll find a folder with the name of the email you just added. It may take a few minutes for your emails to appear, so please be patient (around 10-15 minutes for the first time).
Additionally, when composing a new email, if you start typing in the "To" field, an arrow will appear in the "From" field. Click on the arrow to choose the email account from which you want to send the email.
To make your life easier, follow this last step: Go back to Gmail settings, navigate to "Send mail as" and look for the "When replying to a message" option. Choose "Reply from the same address the message was sent to." This way, you won't have to select the email account each time you reply.
That's it! Enjoy using Gmail for your 1and1 email and if you have any questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out to our support team. We're here to help!
