Membership Add-Ons - Help Desk Explanation

Typically, membership invoices only include the dues amount. However, if your organization offers optional additional services or items along with membership, you can use Membership Add-Ons in the MMS (Member Management System).

Enabling Membership Add-Ons:

1. In the MMS Configuration, enable Membership Add-Ons.

2. To set up the items available as add-ons, go to non-dues invoice items (look for the item-list link next to "Enter Non-Dues Invoice Record").

3. Edit the items you want to offer as add-ons. Check the "Offer as Membership Add-On?" checkbox. You can specify whether the item is available as a single purchase or multiple purchases (allowing users to select a checkbox or enter a number to purchase multiple items).

Recurring vs. Non-Recurring Add-Ons:

- Recurring: If an item is marked as recurring, it will be added to each renewal invoice automatically. For example, a boat-slip rental fee that continues year after year until the member cancels it.

- Non-Recurring: If an item is marked as non-recurring, it will only be added to the next renewal invoice created and then removed from future invoices. This is useful for one-time purchases. If a member wants to remove a recurring non-dues item from future invoices, an admin-level user can remove it through the member database admin.

Note: Once an invoice record is created with Membership Add-Ons, it becomes independent and is not affected by further changes to the member database.

Managing Membership Add-Ons on an Invoice:

1. After a dues invoice with add-ons has been posted, you can still modify the add-ons. 

2. View the member's transactions and click on "chg" next to the invoice.

3. Click on "chg" again next to "Renewal Terms Included."

4. You can now edit the add-ons included in that invoice.
