Creating Topics - User Guide

Topics play a vital role in message boards as they serve as individual discussions within a board. Any member can contribute by adding a new topic. Here's how you can create topics easily:

1. Selecting a Board: Choose a board from the Board List where you wish to create a topic.

2. Adding a Topic: On the Topic List page, click on "Add Topic" to create a new discussion. Alternatively, if the board has email-list functionality enabled, you can create topics by sending an email to the board's designated email address (refer to the "Email-List" help section for more details).

3. Notifying Opted-In Members: When adding or modifying topics, you have the option to send notifications to members who have opted in to receive them. This feature is valuable for gathering feedback and involving engaged board members. In cases where the board has email-list functionality, opt-ins will automatically receive emails when a topic is created.

4. Managing Topics: If you need to make changes or remove a topic, you can easily do so in the message board section of the administrative area.

Topic Details Explained:

- Topic Name: The topic name serves as an identifier for the discussion. Choose a clear and descriptive name that accurately represents the topic. If the topic is created via email (with email-list enabled), the email subject will become the topic name.

- Description/Body: The topic's description/body contains the content that initiates the discussion. Include any relevant information to facilitate meaningful conversations. If the topic is created via email (with email-list enabled), the email's body will become the topic's description/body.
